ABOUT ALTAVERA

Built by People Who

Know What It Takes.

A construction manager with a Master's from USC who managed $400M worth of projects. A systems expert who coaches contractors on how to actually run a business. A field leader with an engineering degree who's built outdoor projects the right way for years. Fourth-generation contractors — and three people who met through church and built something the Treasure Valley was missing.

"Alta. Elevated. Vera. Truth. Built to a higher standard — it's not a tagline. It's the reason this company exists."

Liz, Curtis, and Juan came together through friendship — the kind built through shared values and community, not a LinkedIn connection. They met through church, and when the moment was right, they built something together.

Curtis had spent years as a top-producing Boise realtor, referring clients to outdoor living contractors and quietly hoping each one would work out. Most didn't — not the way his clients deserved. He held a California General Contractor's license and had managed construction projects at the $75 million level. He and Liz — both fourth-generation contractors with construction in their blood — had long wanted to operate a construction business in Idaho.

When Juan was ready to make the transition from field leader to business owner, the three of them saw the same opportunity: the Treasure Valley needed an outdoor contractor built on real construction expertise, real systems, and real accountability. Altavera Construction was born.

The Team Behind
Every Build

LC
Chief Executive Officer
Liz Chism

Liz has built and run multiple businesses and spent years coaching contractors on the systems and processes that separate exceptional companies from average ones. She and Curtis are both fourth-generation contractors — she grew up understanding construction from the inside, which makes her an unusually effective operator in this industry.

Her expertise in customer experience and operational systems is why Altavera clients never feel left in the dark — and why projects close clean, on time, and without loose ends.

Curtis Chism

Curtis holds a Master's degree in Construction Management from the University of Southern California, a California General Contractor's license, and has managed $400M worth of construction projects. He and Liz are both fourth-generation contractors — construction isn't a career pivot for them, it's in their blood.

As a top-producing Boise realtor, Curtis spent years referring clients to outdoor living contractors — and watching too many of those projects fall short of what his clients deserved. That experience, more than anything, defined what Altavera had to be.

Director of Operations
Juan Diego Sotomayor

Juan holds a degree in Environmental Engineering and has spent years leading outdoor living projects from the ground up. His engineering background means drainage isn't an afterthought on Altavera builds — it's the foundation every project is built on.

When Juan was ready to make the transition to business ownership, Liz and Curtis proposed building together. That conversation is what became Altavera. Juan manages all field operations and trade coordination — he's the reason the sequencing holds and the finished product matches what was promised.

The Problems
We Built This
Company to Solve

Three things consistently go wrong on outdoor construction projects. We've seen them up close — and we built Altavera's entire operation around eliminating them.

Problem 01
Nobody owns the whole picture

Most outdoor projects involve multiple subs who each do their piece and move on. The irrigation contractor isn't thinking about drainage. The paver crew isn't thinking about freeze-thaw base prep. Nobody catches the sequencing problem until it's already expensive to fix. At Altavera, one team owns the full build — from grading to final walkthrough — so every decision serves the whole project, not just one trade's scope.

Problem 02
The silence that poisons every project

The number one complaint homeowners have about contractors isn't price or quality — it's communication. The crew disappears. Nobody calls. The homeowner is left wondering if something went wrong, if the contractor walked away, if they made a mistake. Liz built Altavera's communication system specifically to close this gap. You'll never wonder what's happening — because we'll have already told you.

Problem 03
Drainage done wrong — discovered too late

Grading and drainage failures don't show up on install day. They show up six months later — after the patio is poured and the sod is down. Fixing them means tearing apart finished work you already paid for. Juan's engineering background and Altavera's drainage-first sequencing exist for exactly this reason. We solve water management before anything goes on top of it.

The Altavera
Standard

01
One Team. One Outcome.

We own the full build — not just our portion of it. Every trade is coordinated by Altavera. Every decision serves the whole project. If something goes wrong, we fix it.

02
Drainage First. Always.

No surface work begins until grading and drainage are resolved. This is non-negotiable — because water problems discovered after installation mean tearing up work that was already paid for.

03
You'll Never Wonder.

Proactive communication at every phase. If there's a delay, you hear it from us before you notice it yourself. You'll know what's happening and what comes next — always.

04
Locked Scope. No Surprises.

Selections are finalized before work begins. The proposal is itemized. Change orders don't appear out of nowhere. What we quoted is what you pay — unless you change the scope.

05
Built to Your Budget.

We work in good/better/best options so you get the most out of your investment — not a plan that gets value-engineered into something unrecognizable once work starts.

06
Finished Means Finished.

We do a final walkthrough before we leave. The punch list is resolved. The irrigation is tested and explained. Nothing is left for "later." Done means done.
