Paver Patio Contractor for the Treasure Valley

Built on properly prepared ground, not just set on top of it.

Altavera Construction builds paver patios, concrete patios, retaining walls, RV pads, and decorative curbing for homeowners across Ada, Canyon, and Gem counties. Every hardscape project starts with proper grading and drainage, because a surface is only as good as what is underneath it.

Built to a Higher Standard

Why Hardscape Fails in the Treasure Valley, and How We Prevent It

Most patio failures are not material failures. They are sequencing failures.

Soil that does not drain well is a common problem across the Treasure Valley. When water cannot move through the ground under a patio, it sits, it freezes, and Idaho's freeze-thaw cycles do the rest: pavers shift, concrete cracks, and a patio that looked fine in September becomes a problem by March.

Then there is the slope. Many lots have grade changes that directly affect how water moves across the property. A patio installed without addressing that grade does not just look wrong. It can send water toward the foundation.

How Altavera handles it

We address both before anything goes down: grading and drainage are established first, and base preparation is done for Idaho soil and freeze-thaw conditions. The surface goes on top of a foundation built to hold, not just to look good on install day.

What's Included

Paver Patio and Hardscape Services Across the Treasure Valley

01

Paver Patios

Concrete pavers and natural stone set on a compacted aggregate base with proper drainage slope. Each patio is sized and configured for how you actually want to use the space, not a default template. We help you compare paver and stone options based on budget, durability, and the look you want.

Includes

  • Base excavation
  • Compaction
  • Edge restraints
  • Sand setting bed
  • Paver installation and joint sand
  • Sealing (optional)

02

Stamped and Poured Concrete

Broom-finished, exposed aggregate, and stamped concrete patios and walkways. Concrete is practical for large surfaces and can be formed to almost any shape. We pour with control joints sized and placed to manage cracking, not leave it to chance.

Includes

  • Sub-grade prep
  • Form work
  • Reinforcement
  • Pour and finish
  • Control joints
  • Cure

03

Retaining Walls

Block and natural stone retaining walls planned for the load and drainage behind them. Lots with grade changes often need walls that are built to hold, not just stacked to look good. We build them with drainage behind the wall so hydrostatic pressure does not become a failure point.

Includes

  • Excavation
  • Base preparation
  • Drainage aggregate
  • Wall construction
  • Backfill
  • Cap installation

04

RV Pads and Parking Pads

Concrete and paver pads designed to the correct surface type, thickness, and load-bearing width for your vehicle. The sub-base depth and concrete thickness for a Class A motorhome are very different from a standard patio. We spec it correctly from the start.

Includes

  • Sub-base excavation and compaction
  • Reinforced concrete or paver installation
  • Drainage slope
  • Access transitions

05

Decorative Curbing and Edging

Concrete curbing separates beds from lawn, locks paver edges, and gives a finished line to the outdoor space. It goes in after grading and irrigation so later phases do not disturb it.

06

Steps and Grade Transitions

Poured concrete, paver, and block steps connecting grade changes between house, patio, lawn, and yard, designed for correct rise-run ratios and slip resistance.

07

Walkways and Paths

Front entry and backyard walkways in paver, concrete, or natural stone. Each connects to the driveway or patio with clean transitions and consistent materials.

Why One Team Matters Here

One Team. One Build. Nothing Left Unresolved.

Many hardscape installs stop at the surface, with no one thinking about the spring thaw or responsible for the drainage issue that shows up months later. Altavera coordinates hardscape as part of a complete outdoor build.

  • 01

Drainage is resolved before any surface goes down.

French drains, catch basins, and grading are established first, not added as an afterthought once the patio starts puddling.

  • 02

Irrigation sleeves are run before concrete is poured.

If irrigation is part of your build, or might be later, the sleeves go under the patio now, before it is too late.

  • 03

Base prep is done for Idaho conditions.

The freeze-thaw cycle here is real. We compact and build the base for the climate, not the calendar.

  • 04

One point of contact from site visit to walkthrough.

You are not coordinating between a drainage company, a concrete contractor, and an irrigation installer. We manage it.

An estimator reviews the scope and site details, confirms the project fits what Altavera builds, and sets up an on-site visit if it does.

  3. Step 3: On-Site Estimate

We walk the property, check slope, drainage, soil, access, existing concrete, and irrigation lines, and take measurements before any design decisions are made.

  4. Step 4: Written Proposal

You receive a written scope covering layout, materials, permit needs, and build order, ready to review before you commit.

  5. Step 5: Deposit and Scheduling

A deposit locks a start on the calendar. Materials are ordered and the work is lined up around the build sequence.

  6. Step 6: Build in the Right Order

Drainage and grading go first, underground utilities and irrigation second, hardscape and structures third, and landscaping and finish work last.

FAQ

Paver Patios FAQs: Treasure Valley, Idaho

How much does a paver patio cost in the Treasure Valley?

Cost depends on the site: patio size, material selection, existing conditions, and whether drainage or grading work is required. Because every lot is different, we do not quote prices before seeing the property; after the on-site estimate you receive a written proposal with a clear scope. Financing is available through a third-party partner for projects up to $100,000.

Which cities do you serve for paver patios?

Altavera builds paver patios across Ada, Canyon, and Gem counties, including Boise, Meridian, Eagle, Nampa, Caldwell, Star, Kuna, Middleton, Garden City, and Emmett. If you are not sure whether your address is in our area, book a free 15-minute phone consult and we will confirm.

What's the best time of year to install a paver patio?

Spring through fall is the primary installation window in the Treasure Valley. Concrete needs suitable temperatures to cure properly, and we do not build on frozen ground. Spring and summer book quickly, so many homeowners start planning in late winter.

Why did my existing patio crack or shift?

In most cases it comes back to base preparation and drainage. When water sits under a patio and freezes, it expands and moves whatever is on top, so the fix is addressing what is underneath, not resurfacing. We assess the existing conditions before recommending a repair or replacement approach.

Do paver patios require a permit?

It depends on the scope and on your city or county. A ground-level paver patio is often treated differently than a tall retaining wall or a structure attached to the home, so we check your specific project against local requirements. When a permit is needed, Altavera pulls it and manages it with the city or county for you.

Do you seal pavers after installation?

Sealing is optional. A penetrating sealer can help protect pavers from moisture intrusion, staining, and efflorescence in Idaho's freeze-thaw climate. We will talk through whether sealing makes sense for your materials and include it in the scope if you want it.

Can I add a paver patio to my existing yard without tearing everything up?

It depends on what is there. If the area has established irrigation, we run a utility locate and work around or adjust the system, and if there is existing concrete, we assess whether removal is needed or whether pavers can be installed over it. You get an honest assessment at the on-site estimate.

Do you build retaining walls too?

Yes. We build retaining and decorative walls across the Treasure Valley, each planned for the load, drainage, and site conditions behind it, with the base prepared for Idaho's freeze-thaw cycles. Some walls need a permit depending on height and location, and when yours does, we pull it and manage it with your city or county.
